i tried out a "fix" in this forum and it messed my laptop up.
hXXX://w.warez-bb.org/viewtopic.php?p=10160807#10160807 EDIT...this active link has been deactivated by paws as it is not considered safe or free from undesirable elements...no other editing has been performed by paws on this thread if you cant view that what it said was 1. open msconfig 2. go to boot tab and click advanced 3. change the number of processors to the number of cores and your processor. i changed mine to two. this does not work. when i did this and tried to restart my computer i could not log on to vista. the hp manager came on. i tried to use the built in hp program to fix and then restore the system and it would not work. every time i rebooted it kept taking me to the recovery manager i couldnt even get to the vista log in screen. in the hp program one of the other options was to run using command prompt. does anyone know a comand that will change vistas setting to run on only one processor so i can actually boot vista and change the double boot processor settings? or a command to change the settings its self? its not booting because i changed it to boot on 2 processors. please pm me or email me at Please do not post your e-mail address in the forums. This will give you more spam than you really would like. This post has been edited by paws: Jul 13 2008, 02:20 AM |

Hi,
I have edited your post as the link you gave was "active" and any of our visitors who clicked on the link could have been subjected to unsafe or undesirable material...... Another team member also edited your post as you had posted your email address.......unfortunately there are lots of bad guys around who would like to collect your email address so it could be used by the spammers to flood your inbox with unsolicited email. Anyways back to the issue: Try this: 1 Boot into safe mode...see below for link on how to do this on Vista http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm 2 Undo the changes you made, via MSCONFIG 3 Close down and restart your machine in the normal way 4 see how you go Regards paws |

Hello,
I removed your e-mail address to protect you from spam. I have been looking for a fix, as I thought that you can not boot in to safe mode. I am really courius as to why something like this (his post has been edited by paws: Today, 04:20 AM ) was not posted when I removed the e-mail address. |
