This file will fit on a floppy or thumb drive.
Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe and copy it to the infected computer. You just run it and things should work OK after it reboots your system. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html Or try this: Go to start > run and type cmd A dos Window will appear. Type in the dos window: netsh winsock reset hit enter. Exit and reboot. |

It was back up before I read your last post, but that is what happened to it, so I saved it to disk in case it happens again before this is resolved. Thanks!

If the other one is offline, try this one.
http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner Go here to run an online scannner from ESET. Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use. Click Start When asked, allow the activex control to install Click Start Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked Click Scan Wait for the scan to finish Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic. |

I would delete those it found.
I wouldn't think any of those would have anything to do with your connections issues though. |

Ugh yes. The same problems. I will be in the middle of something and it will tell me there's no connection to the Internet when it is connected. And it keeps giving the yieldmanager alerts, but I may have fixed that yesterday. But it is running so slow! I'm room mom for a k & 3rd class and pto secretary. And I was just handed a $75000 project to get a playground for our school which I have no qualifications for unless you count stubbornness (Im a nurse) so I've been so busy this week I could only cuss the computer, not try to fix it :-)

Please run a new Combofix scan.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. ![]() Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message: ![]() Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply. "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread as well. Notes: 1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall. 2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser. 3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper. 4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine. Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment. |
