hi, been looking around the web and haven't found the answer yet. help on following will be appreciated: got new laptop, windows XP with office 2007, office update is done. Excel freezes very often with older excel 97-2003 files. (confusingly with not all of them). few moments after opening such a file, it just freezes, haven't edited it, done nothing. there is usually enough time to make save-as. I've tried to save it in new macro-enabled format but also this new file keeps freezing. somewhere suggested turning off autosave, didn't work either. given error message: EventType officelifeboathang, P1 excel.exe, P2 12.0.6214.1000, P3 ogl.dll, P4 12.0.6211.1000, P5 NIL, P6 NIL, P7 NIL, P8 NIL, P9 NIL, P10 NIL. and also: Hanging application EXCEL.EXE, version 12.0.6214.1000, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. any suggestions???

Hello ats, Posted Image

Sorry you are having this problem with Excel. Please try the following:

Check your Event Viewer. Go to >control panel >settings >administrative tools >eventviewer.
In the left pane highlight Application. Note in the right pane any errors or warnings, particularly at the time your problem occurs. I suggest you also highlight Security and System in the left pane to be sure there are no further errors.
If you find errors, double click on the error message in the right pane, then within the error click on the icon under the down arrow to copy the error and paste back into this thread for further assistance.

You may have already found these links to help your problem, however here they are and perhaps they may be of some use to you. LINK LINK LINK

Please post back if you need more help.

kind regards, :)
