Thanks for the positive feedback.

At some point you have to realize that running obsolete software causes you more trouble than installing the updates. XP SP2 has been obsolete and unsupported for quite some time. Its not a surprise certain software applications won't even install on it any more.

Sorry folks, but being new here I can't seem to discover the method to download: JavaMSIFix.exe.

When I click on the JavaMSIFix.exe anywhere it takes me to a page, but there's no way to download it.

It shows:
What the Tech > Downloads > Tech Support Tools > JavaMSIFix.exe
But I don't see a "download" button

Thank

Click the link and scroll down a little bit. There is a small "Download File" link in the middle of the page. If you cant find it, press Ctrl-F and search for "Download File."

Sorry, no joy here, I searched for "download file" and nothing was found.

This is page URL:
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?au...amp;showfile=41

But as noted, I have nothing but:
> What the Tech > Downloads > Tech Support Tools > JavaMSIFix.exe

And there is just a large white space below this text:
> What the Tech > Downloads > Tech Support Tools > JavaMSIFix.exe

You have more problems than Java. Please post in the windows forum, because obviously webpages are not displayed properly on your computer.

A few notes:

My Firefox add-ons prevented the pop-up window at the bottom of the download page to open and to then allow the download.

So, I switched to IE, which on my PC has less restrictions/blocks.

Downloaded it onto to a small USB WDC (rotating) pocketdrive.

Took it to another PC.

It would not work from the USB WDC pocketdrive, Unknown error 87.

Copied the program to a directory on the “C:\” drive

Then, it worked -- quickly & perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback.

It shouldn't matter if it is on a flashdrive or not. I would propose that it probably just failed the first time, and worked the second time. Some time this tool does that. Something screwy is going on if you run it a second time it will complete.

Take care

Thanks, worked 100% on my system for Java Runtime Environment 6.xx SE. I've been looking in my registry and deleted all the keys for it and it still didn't work until I came across this. smile.gif
