QUOTE (appleoddity @ Mar 15 2012, 08:42 AM) *
Thanks for the feedback.

It shouldn't matter if it is on a flashdrive or not. I would propose that it probably just failed the first time, and worked the second time. Some time this tool does that. Something screwy is going on if you run it a second time it will complete.

Take care

I have problem updating jave every time i got java update but i can't update it as i get this msg everytime..wrapper.created file error123.fiel name director name.or volume label syntax incorrect...what to do

Hi dumembegu welcome.gif

Your problem may not be related to the issue solved here in this Topic.

Though related to JAVA updating, the problem could also be related to various issues.
We'll need much more information in order to understand what is occuring before composing a possible solution.

Please read the following linked post to get an idea of the information which you can provide to better describe your problem.
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?act=SR&f=126

When you provide that additional information, I may MOVE your topic to its own topic Thread so that the involved issues do not get confused with solutions already proposed in this current thread for problems that may be different from what you are experiencing.

Best Regards

I am brand new here, and before I say any more please let me say this => THANK YOU appleoddity and THANK YOU whatthetech - you not only saved my sanity ... but also saved my life! notworthy.gif

I have Windows XP Pro and Firefox 14.01 is my browser of choice. The morning began with notification to update Adobe = successful |... so I decided to check the status of Java updates via the Control Panel = error message - system cannot find registry key.

So started googling and found your website... as they say the rest is history

clap.gif THANKS SO VERY MUCH thumbup.gif

Are there command line switches avaiable for JavaMISFix.exe by any chance? Reason I asked is I would like to automate this tool execution without user intervention.

Thank you.

Like so many others, appleoddity, I created an account to confirm the success of JavaMSIFix and my deep, deep gratitude.

The days wasted! The failed remedies attempted! The sites searched for answers! The contortions and frustrations.

When the problem is so old and has affected so many, why did I think it was the last update and the debris of the one before? Why did it take the right combination of words to find you ('cuz they changed over time)? JavaRa should include a link.

I was ready to pick the registry but my computer told me I had uninstalled and updated (it was the older residue I could see and couldn't eliminate). So the disclaimer in your little gem meant nothing. At that point, it could have said "This will fix the problem or your computer may explode. Take your choice" and I was ready to go. Imaged the box and hit "run". Revo Pro, Add/Remove, Oracle and Control Panel all agree it''s a new day.

Add me to the list of people who deeply appreciate your work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, you helped me and I am truly grateful.

So, I want to provide some detail in case it helps anyone else. Trying to keep this old XP Dell alive, I updated Chrome and found it was so resource greedy--even when closed--Chrome was busy checking for updates, etc. I also had problems with Java following an update many pages were not loading. When settings, tweaks, and brute force made no difference and the good folk at Chrome ignored me, I switched back to Firefox (deja vu with Java page load issues but not near as bad as Chrome). Java problems followed me to FF so I researched and found your page.
Here's the part that might help others: I already used Revo Uninstaller, uninstalled and reinstalled Java a few times (also used Java Ra, and Win Installer Clean Up tool, CCleaner, etc) I ran your fix and Error #87 showed up then I tried it again and it seemed to work. But the problem was still there so I uninstalled, cleaned, and did a manual regedit (I'm fearless) AND I found then disabled a couple of Firefox plugins I wish I had seen before!
That did the trick. I narrowed it down to a Java installation problem and was considering checking regedit when I saw your post and it helped me to focus my efforts. Kudos for your great work!
Thanks again!

JavaMSIFix package works fine. I'm Looking for away to distribute and run the package on multiple systems. ( command line switches ? to minimize useractions and hide the screen)
I'm using sccm to push software to systems.

Kind regards

Rob
