I see from your logs that your yahoo problem does not depend on malware, therefore, I ask you to open a new thread in this forum, so that an expert try to solve your, yahoo problem. Edit by paws, link to malware topic http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?sh...mp;#entry800819 I have a Gateway NV55C. Processor is Intel Pentium CPU P6100 @ 2GHz. Installed Memory (RAM) 3.00 GB (2.74 GB) usable. System type: 64-bit Operating System. Windows 7 Home Premium. Service Pack 1. My initial concerns were my laptop was super slow, Facebook notifying me that someone from Colorado was trying to sign into my account, my Yahoo homepage keep coming up with Colorado as the place where I live, when I signed onto Craigslist it kept toggling between the Denver, CO page and my actual city and state. I tried to go to Yahoo and make a signature to show that it is my page and not the person who has obviously hijacked my laptop. It worked for a week and now the signature is no longer there. And today, I noticed when I signed onto Yahoo to read my mail, I'm getting two messages on the same page instead of one. I get a wanted message at the top of the page and then the message I actually click on is below that message as I scrolled down the page. Hopefully, someone can figure out what is taking place on with my laptop. Thanking WTT for any help you can give me at this point. This post has been edited by paws: Nov 8 2012, 04:16 AM |

Hi Nettie724, welcome to the Light (as opposed to the Dark) side!
How does it behave if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking? Try Yahoo, try making the changes you want. If better then something is starting at boot that is causing the problem. Advanced startup options - XP Advanced startup options - Vista Advanced startup options - Windows 7 Use msconfig to determine what is causing the problem These are good tutorials on using msconfig in XP, Vista or Windows 7: How to use msconfig in Windows XP How to use msconfig in Windows Vista How to use msconfig in Windows 7 Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter. Click on the Startup tab, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button. Reboot and see if it runs better. If yes then use msconfig to enable several items at a time till you find the culprit. If no, start msconfig and click on the Services tab. Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button. Again, do a regular boot, see if it runs normal. If yes then use msconfig to enable services till you find the culprit. Once you've found the culprit, uninstall it or find out how to eliminate it from your system. Simply disabling it in msconfig is a temporary fix at best. Enable everything else you disabled. |

Just for clarity, are you able to access your Yahoo, Facebook, Craig's list, etc. correctly when using another computer?
That is, do the mistakes only occur when using this one laptop? |
