My computer is infected with spyware. Even though I remove it, it comes back. It has interfered with the connection to my printer, I can't shut the computer down properly and I can't control my internet logon page. I have used superanti-spyware, spybot search and destroy, adaware and avast anti-virus to remove the spyware but to no avail. Here are some of the names of spyware that I have found through avast anti-virus: Delf-LGM[Trj], Downloader-BVF[Trj], Pophot-AM[Trj], Spyware-gen[Trj], Trojan-gen{other}, Delf-LHV[Trj].

I would appreciate your advice.

I'm unable to get on the internet from my infected computer, so I can't download Hijack This. Any suggestions? I'm running the anti-virus and anti-spyware programs again. I have confirmed that the cable connection and hardware are ok. I think that the spyware has somehow interfered with the ability to get on the internet. ???

Hi dresin
Lets do this first:
reboot to safe mode:

Windows XP

* Click Start.
* Select Shutdown.
* Select Restart and click OK.
* During restart, hold down the F8 key on your keyboard until the Windows Startup menu appears.
* If your PC starts beeping then release the key for a few seconds before holding it down again.
* Select Safe Mode with network from the Startup menu, and press the Enter button on your keyboard.
* Windows should start in Safe Mode. If Windows doesn't restart in Safe Mode then please try again.

If you can get to internet from there do this:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

HERE

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
post the log Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log

If you can't get to the internet from there try getting the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from a working PC.
On thumb drive or floppy and install it on broken pc. don't try to run it from thumb drive. From thumb drive or floppy copy and paste on desk top.

Let me know what happens I have other tricks too.
good luck mschroe919

don't attach files copy and paste them here, please redo the malware log
when you attach them they don't come out so good.

Hello Mschroe919,

PC is still misbehaving. The home page for internet explorer keeps changing, we keep getting messages from Avast antivirus that it picked up a virus and I can't get the printer to connect. In fact, I am running in safe mode right now so that I can send you this message.

I don't know what my provider address should be. Can you tell me how to check this?

Thanks!

Hi dresin,

I brought out my fine sweeper and am going to look over your log again I will be back late tonight with more answeres or first thing in AM.

FIRST:
to find out your IP address got to google.com (Even if you have to from safe mode)
type in google search What is my wan IP
the first choice to click on is My WAN IP - IP Address Detection (mywanip.com)
Click on it

NEXT:

open HJT

click on open the misc. tools section
then click on open uninstall manager
then click on save list
save it and when it opens copy and paste here

It will aid me in checking your log a little deeper
good luck mschroe919

Hi dresin

Lets do the following please:

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

* Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
* In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
* Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
* Expand the "Tools" menu.
* Click "Resident".
* Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
* In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

NEXT

Important Read:
we need to change location of HJT
FIRST
go to add/remove and remove the HiJackThis

NEXT:

Download HijackThis again

Link to Hijack This

HERE:

once it is in that location we have to go there and change its name (some viruses and trojans hide when HJT is brought up)

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
Close HijackThis and rename it.
Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.exe
Right click on HijackThis.exe and select Rename.
Type in sniper.exe and press Enter
Right-click on sniper.exe

Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button
HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
Copy and then paste the log in your post.

Even though we have renamed HijackThis to sniper, we will still refer to it as HijackThis or HJT
I will wait to see your new log from your new location.
Good luck
