Over the past week there has been a significant deterioration in the PC boot time. Now, when I switch on the pc it either hangs completely during booting or takes 5 minutes to get into Windows. Occasionally it boots into screen where you have an option to boot in safe mode and will not boot into safe mode. I mange to get Windows up every 5-6 boots. My disk does not appear to need defragging and I wondered if there was a virus. I ran ATF Cleaner and the Malwarebytes' program. Perhaps you would review the logs and check if you think there is an infection? Many thanks, Mike

Welcome to the Whatthetech Malware Removal Forum Sorry for the delay in responding but with the amount of people posting with infected computers there are not enough hours in the day

Your log looks fine Only issue I see is that your running TWO ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS and thats not recommended as they will use a huge amount of system resources and sometimes conflict with one another. You have Mcafee and AVG, your call but you need to uninstall one via the Add Remove Programs.

How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community

• Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6
  Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.
  
• Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.
  
• Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.
  
• IE-Spyad
  IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  
• Firefox 3 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

I saw this and thought you may have tried to uninstall Mcafee and one time.

Run this cleaner it should remove it from the temp folder

Go to Start / Run and type "cleanmgr" without quotes ....have it clean Temporary Internet files, and Temp files.
