My printer, an ancient Lexmark Z32 chooses what it wants to print. It used to print everything before but I had to re-install it and now it misses important parts when printing. E.G when I print my bank statement online, it will print everything in words & the amount of money I have got in my statement but it will miss the account number. I wonder whether it has anything to do with my printer's settings. I have no problems printing in a friend's printer. I have done a print screen and it will not print that but will print a log. Hope somebody can help with this, please. The other option is to buy another one. Thanks

Online banking generally has a selection for "Print" or "Printer Friendly"
Making either of those selections "from the site clickable icon" should give you a complete printout.

Banks particularly, but other sites as well utilize code to designate what is "printable text" and what is not.
Therefore, the site itself may limit what your printer "sees".

Since you indicate that a friend's computer does print out a complete copy, you could be dealing with one or both of the following:
  • Need to update printer driver
  • Need to adjust browser add-ons and security settings.

Please tell us about the browser you are using and add-ons installed.
If you have more than one browser (for instance both FireFox and IE) does the problem occur with both browsers when viewing your banking page.

Keep us posted with your progress.
Your topic is likely to be quite popular with many readers who have similar problems.

Best Regards

I use IE and Firefox. I think it has to do with my browser settings, please can you help me to adjust the settings. It used to print everything before that's why I do not understand why it does not now. I noticed it stopped working properly after I disconnected the usb cable to open my computer. I just plug the usb cable in any port. I have updated the driver. Any more suggestions, please. Thanks

In FireFox go to:

Tools - Add-ons

Selectively "disable" each of them

then try your Banking page and Printer

In IE go to:

Tools - Manage Addons - Enable or Disable Addons

also in IE consider your Popup Blocker and whether or not you wish to allow popups from your banking site.

Still does not work and it is driving me crazy. Now it is not printing all PDF files e.g I cannot print my BT online bill and yet I can print a power of attorney form in PDF. I do not know whatelse to do, can buy another printer but am concerned if the same thing happens. It used to work fine before, it started playing when I had to unplug the printer. thanks for your help.

Hi Marie,

Did you re-connect your printer to the original USB Port?
With many-many computers, the wiring for the front panel USB ports is very different from the USB ports on the back of the machine.

Let's have a look at your Device Managers.

Windows Explorer or My Computer
Right-Click on My Computer
Select - Properties
Select - the Hardware(tab)
Press - Device Manager(Button)

We are looking for any yellow exclamations ! or red X
These will indicate a problem with the related Driver.

Particularly we are looking at the items in the Device Manager List

Imaging Devices
Ports
Universal Serial Bus Controllers

Report back any yellow or red warnings
_________________________________________________________

Next:

Open Control Panel - Printers and Faxes

Does your Printer appear there?
What is the Status?
_________________________________________________________

Sometimes when problems with Printers occur, the best and quickest way to get back to Normal functioning is to Delete the Printer and Reinstall.

Do you have the Installation CD that came with your Printer?

*** Caution: When installing the Printer Drivers for a Printer that attaches via USB, it is "most often" necessary to unplug the printer from both power and USB before installing the Printer Drivers.

The installation Wizard with give you instructions for when to plug in the Printer power and attach it to your machine via USB.
Most often, rebooting the machine during the re-installation sequence is necessary, and again, the Wizard will tell you when to do so. Just follow the onscreen instructions.

Best Regards

Sometimes with 'forms' things will be considered "backgroud" images and not part of the data.

Try enabling 'Print background images and colors' in IE .

Open IE and goto -tools-, then the -advance- tab, and it will be about a bit past half-way down the list or so. section: Printing.

then try it and see if it picks it up. If not, then as Doug said, that information is not passed to the printer by the design of the webmaster for the bank website.

No.

Then it is unlikely that the info is restricted, but maybe part of the background as I mentioned.
