Greetings,
I have recently had my credit card compromised. The first time was in the first week of August and I had thought it was one of businesses I had visited locally. I finally got a new card and used it twice on the internet this past weekend. You guessed it... my card was compromised today! Now I am wondering if there is a bug on my computer or if one of the sites is not secure. I have been using my card online for years and never had a problem. Was I just lucky? My HJT log is pasted below. Any help understanding the issue would be apprecaited. hi frankstenosis,
log looks ok as far as malware goes, but that dosnt mean you dont have any. we can start with malwarebytes: Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop: http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt post the log in reply you can also do a online scan: ESET online scanner: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ uses Internet Explorer only check "YES" to accept terms click start button allow the ActiveX component to install click the start button. the Scanner will update. check both "Remove found threats" and "Scan unwanted applications" click scan when done you can find the scan log at:C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt please copy/paste that log in next reply. |

Hello Shelf life,
Thanks for the reply and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I actually ran Malwarebytes while waiting for a reply to my post. It found three issues that my Trend Micro scanner did not find as shown in the log posted below. This fact causes me some concern since I am paying good money for that service. I also ran the ESET scan (log below) and found no problems. Do you have any idea what that third malware is that was cleaned by Malwarebytes? Many thanks for your help! hi frankstenosis,
no problem. ive seen this file as a false positive (wdfmgr.exe) you checked malwarebytes for updates lately? lets get another download to see if it can dig up anything on your machine. it only runs in safe mode. link and directions below: Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop. http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive% (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix) Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following : * Restart your computer * After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually; * Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear; * Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter. * Choose your usual account. * Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script. * Type Y to begin the cleanup process. * It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot. * Press any Key and it will restart the PC. * When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons. * Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum). * Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt in your reply. |
