Hi all,

I have been searching to find an answer to my problem for a bit now. Your assistance would be appreciated smile.gif

Whenever I look at any folder. it looks like this:



No files, or folders have any thumbnail preview. If i change the view size down from "large icons" to "list" then back up again I do get a sort of preview, however it is very blocky and not right. It also only stays there until I change to another folder and isnt a real fix.

I have check the right boxes are ticked in folder view (Always show icons, never thumbnails is not ticked). As well as rebuilding thumbnail cache. I am out of options and I am pretty sure it isnt something dumb and simple.

Also, when I try and change my desktop, the screen to change the picture looks like this:



And it doesnt let me change the picture, or how the picture is presented.


Any help would be great smile.gif

Try clearing the thumbnail cache:
  1. Run Disk Cleanup - open the Start menu, type Disk Cleanup, then hit Enter
  2. Make sure the "Thumbnails" option is selected, then click Delete Files

The steps that I am about to suggest involve modifying the registry. Modfying the registry can be dangerous so we will make a backup of the registry first.
Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot preform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.

Backing Up Your Registry
  1. Download ERUNT
    (ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
  2. Install ERUNT by following the prompts
    (use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
  3. Start ERUNT
    (either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
  4. Choose a location for the backup
    (the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
  5. Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
  6. Press OK
  7. Press YES to create the folder.

Save it to your desktop as Fix.reg, double-click it, and allow it to merge with your registry. Let me know if you have any problems and whether the issue was resolved.
