Hi.

This morning I experienced a major slowdown on my laptop, and I started getting hit with popups telling me that Windows had noticed viruses and that I should 'Click here' to get software to correct it. Other issues included the clock stating 'VIRUS ALERT!' beside it, and this text also appeared in Windows Live Messenger timestamps and in the 'Last Modified' part of file details.

Other issues that cropped up are:

• Right-clicking on desktop > properties gives the message: "Your system administrator disabled the Display control panel."
• Start > Run > Regedit gives the message: "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator."
• Ctrl+Alt+Del gives the message: "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator."
• Attempting to install particular programs gave a message along the lines of "The program cannot be installed because the administrator's policy settings prevent it."

Considering that I am the administrator, this is pretty baffling.

Also, WinPatrol repeatedly notifies me of a couple of attempted changes:

• A change was made to use "regedit.exe %1 %*" instead of "regedit.exe %1" for the file type ".REG".
• A change was made to use "Name - Company name - %1 %*" instead of "Name - Company Name - %1 /S" for the file type ".SCR".

I've run spyware and malware scans with Spyware Doctor, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Spybot - Search and Destroy, CCleaner, and Avira AntiVir Personal. All the scans so far have detected various pieces of spyware and malware, but these have failed to rectify the VIRUS ALERT! issue (administrator issues have been rectified by Spybot Search and Destroy).

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
