I have WinXP Home ACER OEM SA85D (bought in HK, database product ID 111 - it's not listed so I'm giving you it)
I got slow bootup time (when still seeing the winxp logo and blue squares flying across the bar) (and explorer cpu constantly above 10 although I am doing absolutely nothing, just start windows task manager and I haven't moved my mouse or keyboard) (and avg keeps to 30% cpu when i starts itself up).

My cpu fan runs at full speed if I attempt to do anything within the first ten minutes of bootup and runs at full speed every now and then after that.
If I do nothing while first 10 minutes of bootup, the cpu fan runs at full speed for every while and then and then stays at normal speed after ten minutes.

I also keep getting bad_pool_header and some other blue screens like "... not less or equal" before welcome screen, and after login.

I have done a permissions reset a few months ago when I failed to install SP3 with subinacl and the secedit ( I grabbed it from a WinXPPro computer , Home editions don't have this ) as written by the article at windowshelp.microsoft.com.

I have Messenger Plus! but I have not installed the sponsor program and I am not seeing ads, in case someone advises me to remove it.

I have installed Thunder Download about 5 months before this happened and removed it 4 months before; so you may see some registry leftovers. (Chinese written Software, I admit, leaves much more leftovers after uninstall.) I now use Flashget (and the newest version which doesn't have a sponsor program, the older ones did)
