Hello,
I am a librarian and this question is about a problem we have at my job.
We print a lot of labels to stick on the back of the books.
We never had any problem with printing our labels ... until we got new computers!
The computers we are using are desktops Dell Vostro 200, they were purchased this year. We are using Windows XP Professional.
In our department, we have three computers; they are all hooked to a copy machine that also operates as a printer, on our floor, and they are also hooked to another copy machine that's in another department.
What happens is that we can print documents or internet pages without any problem. But, when it comes to print labels, everytime we want to print for the first time of the day, the computer shuts down, sometimes once, sometimes two or three times. After that, we can print all the labels we want without the computer shutting down. We tried to print labels from the three different computers and they all do the same thing. We tried to install another label template, this didn't change the problem. The other day, I downloaded a new template from Internet ... and the problem remained. We are using 1 by 11/2 inch labels; we use to have Avery labels, now we are using Z-International labels.
We asked two of our tech persons to help us but, until now, the were not able to figure out what is going on!
Thank you for helping us ...

Hmmm, that is odd - especially with it happening to 3 different computers.

What operating system were you using before? What is the brand and model of the label printer?

We were using the same operating system.
The name of the printer, which is really a copy machine, is "Ricoh Aficio 2018 D"

We had our problem figured out!
A friend came and just downloaded a new printer drive (I think that's the right word...) from the Internet ... and this got rid of our problem.
Thank you anyway.
