It would seem your computer is continually placed in harms way. Apparently there is at least one user of that computer that is not practicing safe computing as I note you have had continuing infestation problems since last October. I recommend you step back and evaluate your computing practices, and those of every user that uses that computer. Lay down the law! If other users don't comply, lock them out! If unsure how to practice safe computing, see that section in my Cleaning Out Malware sticky and establish an unfaltering discipline.

4 - 5 svchosts running at once is normal, with 6 being the most I have ever seen. You need to see what is running on your machine. The below are all enhanced Task Manager type programs that will show you what is running on your computer. Each is nice in its own way. What's Running is probably the easiest, with AutoRuns for the more experienced, and Process Explorer the most popular. With these, for example, you can see what processes are using each of those various svchost.exe images.

smile.gif Hi there! I don't think my computer is in harms way that much to be honest!i used to use p2p software but have not really been using it that much lately.I decided to do a fresh install to see if that would correct the issue, but it has not.there are still around 10 svchost.exe processes running which i find strange aswell.if i done a fresh install of windows surely there can be no virus/trojan issues which would mean that this could very well be normal? After searching around the net,it seems that it is normal to have alot of these running...but i think you can tweak windows services to cut down on running processes.i'm gonna have a look around the net see what info i can find.
