Hi.

My computer seems to be affected (again) by kavo.exe., tavo.exe, tt.exe., and 2.exe. I can't display hidden files, and the "Portable Media Devices" in the Control Panel no longer displays an image.

I believe I got this through my flash drive (or whatever you wanna call it) when I printed something at an internet cafe.

I got this 2 weeks ago, followed some advice from this site, and seemed to have fixed everything. (At the time, I didn't suspect the flash drive/USB). After plugging it in again to back up some files, the computer went haywire again. The same memory error messages, yada yada yada. And then I did some quick tests, and lo and behold, found the kavo complex again.

How can I get rid of these things on my hard drive AND my flash drive (assuming it's in both places)?

I have Hijack This installed and ComboFix. I run McAfee antivirus and Spybot normally.

I keep getting RXZIL.DLL (VAnti) detected in my flash drive as F: lsfjg.com

Please help.

Thanks,
Kiran

Hello MarJayKiran

Welcome to the Whatthetech Malware Removal Forum

If you run Combofix on your own, this forum, myself and sUbs will not be responsible if your disable your system, its a very powerful tool that should be run with supervision, its not a general all purpose cleaning tool

This is the latest version of Hijackthis by Trendmicro, if you have the older version 1.99.1, drag it to the trash.

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop.
Double click it to install
Follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe

  • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
  • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Post Reply and not start a New Thread.

DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Go to the top of the page

Hello,

I am basically looking at a clean log, lets do a few things.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- Don't forget to do this
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

Hi, again.

Here's the MBAM log, followed by the HJT log.

After this gets knocked out, perhaps you can help me ensure that my flash (thumb) drive is clean. Like I wrote in the first post, McAfee keeps deleting a virus from it...repeatedly. I don't want my files on the drive to be affected.

Thanks for all your help (so far and in the future).

K

MarJay,

Part of the files removed by Malwarebytes where related to a Rootkit infection, lets run this tool to see if there is anymore .

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Hey,

Open Notepad Go to Start> All Programs> Assessories> Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad )and copy all the text inside the Codebox by highlighting it all and pressing CTRL C on your keyboard, then paste it into Notepad, make sure there is no space before and above File::

CODE
File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ckvo1.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ckvo.exe

Save this as CFScript to your desktop.

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

How is your system behaving now??

Hi.

System seems to be doing okay, now. Everything back to working order, almost. Since kavo hit (the first time, last week), it removed the image from the "Portable Media Devices" in Control Panel, and my computer won't automatically open up CDs or the flash drive anymore.

Also, I'm concerned that my flash drive is infected with this junk. Any tips for that?

Here are the requested logs. Thanks for all your help so far and in the future.
