Our laptop which runs Vista Home Premium has started acting a bit strange. The main symptom is that IE has been crashing to the point where it doesn't run any more. Here is a HijackThis log which I ran tonight:

Welcome to the Whatthetech Malware Removal Forum,


You have a clean log, no malware or viruses that I can see, you may just have to clean out the temp files and Temporary Internet Files, these can and do build up and may be clogging you up.

This will install the Run Command that is not installed by default in Vista
1. Right click on the Vista start menu and click Properties.
2. In the properties window select the Start Menu tab and click Customize.
3. Scroll down and tick the box to the side of Run Command. Click OK and now you can see Run Command in the start menu.


Go to Start > Run and type "cleanmgr" without quotes ....have it clean Temporary Internet Files and Temp files.

Thanks for the info Ken. I will have a look here and hopefully it will solve the little IE niggle. I was originally concerned that there may be some malware present as I use Firefox on said machine with no problems and didn't see anything.

I have CCleaner installed on the laptop and will give it a run to catch any other "dregs" that may be on it as well. If the problem re-occurs, I post a followup here.
