QUOTE Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections. If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help. Unless informed of in advance, failure to post replies within 5 days will result in this thread being closed. Hi royboy123 I'm Gary R, I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. Please observe these rules while we work:
If you can do these things, everything should go smoothly.
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) and extract (unzip) it to your Desktop. (Do not run it yet) Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop.
QUOTE You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site. Next, please boot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following :
Note: if you cannot boot into safe mode using this method, DO NOT attempt to do so by using MSConfig, this could result in your computer becoming unbootable. Just let me know. Once in Safe Mode
Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background. Clean out your Temp files.
Run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
You can also access the log by doing the following
Open the SmitfraudFix folder again
(Note: If you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.) Please post the following logs.
Please post each log separately so they don't get cut off by the forum post size limiter. |

Hi i appreciate your help and im following your steps the best i can. But i noticed you said that in XP you have to run it in Administrator well when i went into safe mode i noticed that i had an Administrator and a Michael (me) at the log in screen suggesting that i use the Michael one. But when i am in regular mode i can't log off and get into that Administrator one. Now i don't know if you want me to conitiue to try and do this or restart it with new directions. I also don't know if the Michael one is already Administrator maybe?
EDIT: i tried going through with the procedure in safe mode but when i was asked if i wanted to clean the registry with smitfraudfix, i said yes and it said that the administrator wouldn't allow that. And i have no idea how to get into the administrator via regular XP mode. This post has been edited by royboy123: Jul 20 2008, 01:36 PM |

OK, the account named Administrator is NOT the one I want you to use. That is a special account set up by the System and is only visible in Safe Mode. Just use your normal account, XP accounts have administrator privileges by default.
If you're in any doubt, click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts look at your account and underneath it it should say "Computer administrator", if it doesn't then let me know. As for your problems. Before running the fix, try the following. Run a scan with HJT and when finished check the following item (if found). O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1 Now close all open windows and click Fix Checked to remove it. Try running the fix again. Let me know if you have any further problems. |

Any chance you're going to send the rest of the logs I asked for ?
We're not going to progress very far unless you follow all the instructions I give you. |

Looking much better, still some work to do though.
Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall the following (if present): QUOTE Viewpoint Manager (or any other entry with Viewpoint in the name)Viewpoint Service Viewpoint Toolbar Run a scan with HJT and when finished check the following items (if found). O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2A65BE74-EC8D-401E-93DF-5BDA3DC05505} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\byXOiJcC.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4029A8A6-5AAD-4F62-AD9D-A789878BC1D4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\efcYOfcD.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: QXK Olive - {812AE34E-162C-4C94-BAA1-A2C0431AEC84} - C:\WINDOWS\kgxmotapktx.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: qndsfmao - {3FCAEB7D-F8AE-4A67-AE6C-57EE1416BB6D} - C:\WINDOWS\qndsfmao.dll (file missing) O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU) O16 - DPF: {4ED9DDF0-7479-4BBE-9335-5A1EDB1D8A21} - O20 - Winlogon Notify: byXOiJcC - byXOiJcC.dll (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: Reliability - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ktn4l75q1.dll (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: ShellScrap - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fp4803hue.dll (file missing) Now close all open windows and click Fix Checked to remove them. Download OTMoveIt2 by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
CODE C:\Program Files\AWS C:\Program Files\Viewpoint C:\Program Files\Common Files\Viewpoint

Next Run a new scan with HJT and post me the log please. Summary of the logs I need from you in your next post:
Please post each log separately to prevent them being cut off by the forum post size limiter. |
