I made the below post on the topic: http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_do_I_sec...ter_t92219.html

So this is simply fixing an issue involving a Firefox Certificate preventin me from using https login for the router. Here's my post:

Guys looks like I found my own answer. This should also improve not only your router security online, but also with TCP/IP games too. See the below links.

Link 1: http://www.technicallyeasy.net/2007/09/sec...ess-router.html

Link 2: http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:HgrIP...;cd=1&gl=us

Link 3: http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:TC6ue...;cd=2&gl=us

Why WPA2 is better than WPA encryption as the new encryption standard: http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:ki88M...;cd=2&gl=us

Yes some directions are the same on each, however, there are a few different security directions different on each. Hope it helps everyone.

Now here's still one more question I have. My xbox 360 had to be set back to Microsoft to be replaced due to a falty motherboard. Good thing I had a 3yr warenty. When that happened my 360 was not connected to the ethernet cable that goes to the router during the time of the replacement. Thus, I was unable to access my router's network. Now I got the router back yesterday. When I go to the router settings I find everything got reset back to factory defaults. I've done what you've suggested for the 6 steps to secure the router again, and the above directions in the links I've provided in this post. I hope it helps someone. Anyway, in the security tab I've re activated the ability to access the settings page to use https. Hence https://192.168.1.1 The problem is prior to this I told my Firefox to accept always the certificate the comes up for approval every time you enter https mode. For some reason when you enter https://192.168.1.1 the certificate no longer works. I can still get into the settings with http://192.168.1.1, but not https.

The message I get when I do https is:
Secure Connection Failed

192.168.1.1 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for Linksys.

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

* This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

* If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…
-----------------------

Should I clear the certificate, or how do I correct this?

Also is RADIUS encryption better than WPA2 encryption? I saw it in the security type list. Also the config.bin file where all the settings done to the router is located, can you tell me the file path (i.e. C:/) of where the config.bin file is located?

Thanks again.
