Hello everyone.
If anyone can help I would be grateful..

This is how it all started:
My pc started showing those weird popups-ads of online scan, so I figured I have a malware.
My Antivirus kept picking it up but wouldnt remove it.
I installed Spyhunter and Spybot S&D and removed everything (btw I had the smitfraud) BUT
somewhere in the process my antivirus informed me of an infected file named NDIS.sys so I deleted it, and I think that's what caused the problem.
After the restart my NICs (an on board marvel yukon and a pci dlink) are all "on yellow" saying "The device driver is missing or corrupt. Code 39"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but no luck.
I try to delete the devices completely but only the pci one gets deleted and afterwards does the same thing.
The onboard wont delete, I get a message like "this device is needed for startup".
Also on the list of network devices have appeared the following displaying the same issues with the above:
Wan miniport (IP) Wan miniport (L2TP) Wan miniport (PPPOE) Wan miniport (PPTP) Parallel
Also on startup I get an error message titled "Mobile Devices properties" saying "The TCP/IP network transport is not installed".
I run Windows XP.

Please, please help, I don't want to format!!!

edit: if this is in the wrong category (although I'm not sure yet) please move it

UPDATE: if anyone has any solution please hurry, it's getting worse by the minute. Now my sound died.......sad.gif

Hi and welcome to the WTT forums.
welcome.gif
Sorry to hear of the problems with your computer.

Your machine seems to be in dire straits, so the first thing to do is to check your backup/archive/copy of all important files, address books, favourites, data, emails, work, documents, photos ,spreadsheets music etc, in fact everything that is important to you, make sure it is 100% up to date accurate and reproducible. Even if it is only a day or two since you last did this take the opportunity now to get it all up to date and safely copied to removable media. It would be sensible (just to be on the safe side) to also make sure all your drivers are backed up and you have all your installation discs, serial and product keys including those for Windows itself. If you have a disc image made in happier times then make sure you know where you can put your hands on it.

We do not provide malware related advice on this sub forum, but if you suspect that you have the Smitfraud infection or any sort of malware then there is self help available from here:
http://forums.whatthetech.com/Self_Help_Fi...alware_f97.html

You will also find links there on how to submit an HJT log to the malware removal experts if you need detailed advice and specific instructions on cleaning your machine.
The driver issues may or may not be related, but it would be wise to carry out the above, before attempting to make system changes.

Thanks for the reply paws!

Despair hit me last night, so I have already done the whole of your first paragraph (except for the disk image - if only...) and proceeded to format the dayam thing wacko.gif

Anyways the onboard NIC is alive but non responsive (drivers ok, NIC not burned but when I plug the jack there's no light on the back and no network), I think its something to do with the jack socket. Is there any way to verify this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Yes I can understand.
Well done on getting the format and reinstall done, at least you know that with a new set up your software should be OK
I would try a new Network card and see how you go.....they are generally very reliable but do fail sometimes.....you may be able to borrow one if you don't have a spare one anywhere.....buying one is always a last resort!
