Operating System: WINXP PROFESSIONAL SP2



svchost.exe has gone wild. i installed pro explorer and can now stop it, but must do so at each boot.

also must install updates one at a time about fifty percent of the time. have automatic update on winxp pro 2nd edition enabled.

any thoughts on permanent fix to both of the above wold be helpful

but presumably you have carried out a thorough check for malware?
