I have windows xp and recently installed a wireless router. It is a D-Link . Everything seems to work but when I go to one certain page it will not work. I disconnect the router and go direct using my dsl modem and the page works. I hook up my wired router and it works. I also have a second computer also using xp and the same thing happens. My laptop has vista installed and everything works there. I contacted D-Link and we tried many things and nothing worked. They also sent me a repacement router and the same thing. Getting very frusterated. Please can anyone help?

Thunder14,
Yes it is an interesting problem you have presented. smile.gif (tough)

Since both router (the old and the new) act the same way I would have to guess that it's something in the setup of the router.

Not sure but it kind of sounded like you have 3 PC's 2-desktops running Win XP, and a laptop running Vista. Nether of the desktops can connect but the laptop can. (by connect I'm refering to just the one site)

Is it just one page on the site or the whole site? (not that it really matters tho)

Could the page/site be requesting or maybe in need of something that vista has that the XP machines don't have?

Just throwning a few ideas out there at you.

If you can update us on what you've tryed, and if anything has worked yet for you.
But either way Good luck.

I upgraded the firmware and changed the mtu to a lower number and still the same.

I'd also check to verify your firewall settings on the XP machines.

also, what browser are you using? I.E.7, Netscape, AOL, firefox?

do you have any type of Anti-virus/malware software installed on the XP machines?

thanks for the replies.

what's the exact model of the D-link wireless router?

Have you checked to verify that the W-router doesn't have some type of web filtering turned on?

thunder14,

Are you able to give more details about the specific site that's NOT working through your D-Link router? This would help in troubleshooting the problem. Is it a site with HTTPS or does the site's URL have a specific PORT assigned after it (i.e. a :XXXX, where XXXX is some number)?

I'm just trying to figure out WHAT's different with THIS site that might be preventing your D-Link Router from being able to access it.

Also, you you using DHCP configuration on your router for ALL PCs connected to it?

A little more info might help track down the cause of this issue.

- John

Hmmm i would have mentioned to change the mtu but as you said thunder14 it doesn't work.

Just to let you know i had the same problem but with a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router i fixed it by changing the mtu, I'm not sure if it would be the same with you but i couldn't access websites such as:
Piczo and Hotmail.
--Using different web browsers didn't help me when i struggled to fix it--

Not sure if this will help you solve the issue. smile.gif
