Hello, i been having this problem for a long time, as soon as my comp starts i get this... i tried for endless hours to fix it but i don't know alot about computers so i got very frustrated, i would appreciate it alot if someone can explain to me in detail what this is why it happens how to fix exc. i got very frustrated with this i really need help

Hi Damian88,

gearsec.exe is a non-essential file loaded when Gear DVD/CD Burning Software and/or iPod/Quicktime Software are installed.

Sound familiar?

There probably would have been a failure during the installation.
Gearsec is prompting you to send the failure information to them for their use in improving their software.
In most instances, you can do this safely.
It is "unlikely" that they will respond or provide you will any assistance, unless you also contact them directly.

I see... so how can i get rid of this error message exactly? and do i really need it to burn CD's? the main problem is that up until now everytime i try to burn a CD the computer turns off the seconds it starts burning... so i thought this was the cause or a virus or maybe the cables are connected wrong since its a custom made computer that my uncle put together? it was expensive but since i bought it i haven't been able to burn any CD's because it shuts down when i try, thanks alot for the help

Of course any of the suspicious that you mention "could" be the culprit.
Let's get a better look at that machine, first.

You may have a couple of serious problems... or not.
They may or may not be known to you.
If they are already known to you, and you intentionally installed them, you should already understand the risks.
If they are not already known to you, then expert advice is indicated for removal over in our Malware Removal Forum.
I'll address two concerns separately.
Please note: These are simply concerns based on my opinion. You may agree or disagree.
You are the owner/operator of your own machine and are entitled to manage your machine and its use in whatever way you see fit.

1. "ijji" installer / launchers.
To the best of my knowledge, these are (.bat) scripts that automate the entry of your username and password when specifically intending to open a gaming application or a browser to quickly go directly to a designated website.
Such (.bat) scripts appear on various gaming sites and are sometimes associated with hacker activity.
*** If you copy/pasted these scripts and then activated them without understanding the nature of the script and possible risks, then you "could have" compromised the safety of your machine, its unintended online behavior, and your personal data.
*** If you fully understood the nature of the scripts, then you've already made your decision.
So if you added these items intentionally, my comments here may be no more than an annoying nuisance.


2. New(dot)Net
New(dot)Net has been around for quite some time and was initially associated with browser hijack and redirects that were thought to be almost exclusively the province of malware and folks attempting to exploit unaware users.
It is a large enterprise that has been attempting to push its way into commercial prominence in the world of Top Level Domain Names.
The recognized authority for registering domain names is ICANN (Internet Certification Authority for Names and Numbers) who are responsible for registering and keeping track of Domain names such as (.com, .net, .org, .edu, .mil, .gov, etc)
As Internet use has grown, there has been increasing demand for additional website addressing.
Since many/most of the very popular commonly recognized names have already been put into use, new entrepreneurs are attracted to other internet addressing domain groups.
There are (in my opinion) two prominent downsides to the emergence of New(dot)net.
1. The first is that the software needed to gain access to this "alternate domain addressing" is installed on the user's machine without their knowledge and can redirect the browser from the desired website in a legitimately registered domain, to other websites that were not anticipated.
2. The second is that this alternate network of domains may not be as well policed as the legitimate ICANN registered domain sites. For instance, a less than scrupulous person could create shadow sites of well-known website names, in hopes of luring users to the site by use of the popularly recognized website but with a different domain such as (.shop, .xxx, .kids, .love, .golf, etc) The opportunity for exploit of this rogue top level domain naming is huge.
As a result, I urge folks to avoid it, and at the very least to inform themselves about what they may be getting themselves into.

I have strayed quite far from responding to your original question.
I hope you will consider the above concerns seriously.
Once they are resolved to your satisfaction, attention can be given to the annoying alert that you have been receiving.

The annoying alert appears to be the result of a failed installation and can probably be remedied through a process of several steps.
But it is important to first rule-out any malware issues.
There are many CD Burning utilities that you can use (paid and a few free)

And from your Pit Test, it appears that you have quite a strong running machine.
Good in most categories, and outstanding in Video resolution.

I look forward to any insights you may decide to post regarding the above.

Ok, thanks alot the "Ijji" thing was a game called GunZ i installed and it asked me to install a few extra things like the auto installer thing exc. and i already uninstalled it off my system, also i saw some post about the Newdotnet thing in another post so what i did was erase the newdotnet folder in program files but where is this "New.net Domains 8.0 build 836 Jan 18, 2008" thing from and how can i get rid of it? also to fix the gearsec thing do i have to remove or re-install anything? after i get this questions answered i will re-try to burn a CD and see if the computer shuts down or works properly and burns the CD and i can get rid of this atlast

PS: i'm a computer newbie so don't hesitate to give alot of detail about everything and simplify things

"Erasing" New(dot)Net in the manner you describe, can lead to loss of ability to connect to the internet, due to poorly written components of LSP (Layered Service Provider software) that may have been installed in other areas of you machine, by New(dot)Net

I'd suggest that before your continue with anything else....
Post a HJT Log over into our Malware Removal Forum
The experts there will help you reconstruct any damaged LSP features to assure that your machine's access to the internet does not fail for this reason at some time in the immediate future.

Please do this now, while your machine is still able to access the internet.
