Hi,

This is so great to have some help. Thank you so much.

My HP Compaq Presario ( 2 years old ) is running quite slow. It takes some time for programs to start up and the Internet connection ( high speed DSL ) seems slower also. When one program is coming up it comes up in pieces so it sometimes seems a bit frozen. Boot up takes quite some time also.

I've run Spybot, Ad-Aware SE, Norton Anti Virus and CC Cleaner to help the situation. I've tried to reduce the number of programs in the Start up menu. I also have Zone Alarm. I've defragged and tried to clean the disk up. I've downloaded the trial version of Registry Mechanic which fixed a few problems. I've just done a back up in case anything happens.

My computer seems fairly clean as I use these programs constantly. If you have any suggestions it would help me work a little faster and smoother. Below is my HIjack log.

Thank you and live long and prosper...... wink.gif Searon

hi Searon,

i will try to help, but "slow computers" can be lots of things, most of those posts go unanswered if no glaring malware is present. and at first glance i didnt see any malware in your hjt log.
yes a more recent log may help, if you could post a new one.

Hi Shelf Life,

I thank you for letting me know that there does not appear to be any obvious malware. That helps me. I will check a few more things and then do another log and let you know my progress. If you have any suggestions then I would appreciate any insight. I understand that slowness may be too complicated to fix via a forum.

Thanks for replying and helping in this forum. It is nice to have some support.

Hope you are having a good day,

Searon,
Vancouver, BC
