I know I'm not suppose to reply to my own topic to bump it up. but since it's been three of four days, I thought I should. I as an update, my anitvirus has also found another virus by the name of A0075133.exe. I tried to do some research and all that came up were pages in other languages (to do with the virus though)

![]() I suggest you do this: Double-click My Computer. Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab. Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types." Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders." Clear "Hide protected operating system files." Click Apply, and then click OK. Please do not delete anything unless instructed to. Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. Download - ATF Cleaner» Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program. Under Main choose: Select All Click the Empty Selected button. (If you use FireFox or the Opera browser To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.) It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two. Next: Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment. |

ATF cleaned up 105 megs....malwarebytes found nothing. Well, my computer usually takes around 5 minutes to start up, which it didnt used to, but has been this way since I've reformatted it and things months ago. IT runs fairly well considering how old it is. But it takes a while even to launch firefox, which I don't think is right. But maybe I'm wrong. It occasionally will restart it self (like I've hit the reset button on the tower), but doesn't happen too often. My system is a 1.67GHz AMD Atthlon XP 2000, 1.5 gig of DDR ram. Running XP Media Center Edition. Also I use Commodo Firewall, which I think is really good, but often alot of random warnings pop up saying "something" is trying to use firefox (or whatever might be) to connect to the internet, where "something" is whatever random program there is on my computer. I know some of that is normal, but it seems too often to me.

so far pretty good. I dunno, it's hard to say because it;s a pretty finicky. But, I guess you could say I'm satisfied at the moment. I was mostly trying to make sure all spyware and the like were removed from my computer as much as possible.

Good job
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below: Note: I no longer suggest Zone Alarm Understanding and Using Firewalls This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates. settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here: Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware Using IE-SPYAD to help block unwanted sites and activities Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program. I would also suggest you read this: So how did I get infected in the first place? by Tony Klein |

Well, thanks for the help. I keep my hidden extensions and things visible for my own use (I like to see whats there), unless you recommend not doing so. Also, would you recommend using IE over firefox? I'm using firefox currently, it runs much better on my computer.
