I had connected to, what I now know to be, a viral SSID at some point. I turned on Only Infrastructure under wifi properties to stop Peer to Peer, but in that time, I believe some damage was done. I know a bit about them now, but it still is listed under the Wifi Locations (even when wifi is off). I have some very suspicious entries that I would like someone to examine, please. I have run Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and I run Avast!Anti-virus and nothing has turned up. I believe one of these programs may have been altered possibly. It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
• Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.

I ran both as you instructed and No Malware was found with the scanner, just like my SpybotS&D, Ad-Aware and Avast!AntiVirus.
I still have a peer-to-peer Viral SSID show up in my Wifi list, even though it is NOT in my preferred networks list. I need to somehow delete what this is and what it is associated with. It can't be legit, and my system is still acting very strange with my WiFi, including my Avast!AntiVirus claiming that it has a new version to install twice in the same week (which I DON'T think is correct, it's the core program saying this and NOT updates, leading me to think I might be compromised.)

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  
  
• Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

"copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread as well.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.

Disable auto-connection or advertisement for ad-hoc networks in your wireless auto configuration utility. This behavior is default in Windows Vista. In windows XP, ensure that you have selected the “Access point (infrastructure) network only” in the “Advanced” configuration of Wireless Network Connection Properties.

If you need to connect to a peer device, make sure of the identity of the peer device before connecting. If you ever do connect to such a network, clear it from your PNL after you are done.

I have read up on SSID and have infrastructure only enabled, and the Viral SSID seems to still show up (EVEN WITHOUT THE WIFI TURNED ON AT ALL). I have deleted it from the Preferred Networks List, but it still shows up under the list of WiFi Hotspots EVERYWHERE I go (even when offline!). Something is amiss with this. Could it be a registry dirty trick?
