I didn't do a system restore, but uninstalling Spyware guard in safe mode seems to have done the trick. Thanks a lot!

Good, glad that's resolved it, sometimes the odd program isn't compatible with a systems configuration, this was one of those occasions, you don't need that program, you should be fine with what you have, plus good surfing habits.
