Hey Everyone,

I need to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 531s (desktop) with a firewire port. This is one of Dell's "slim" models and try as I might, I can't seem to find anywhere that sells parts for slim models. I was hoping someone could recommend a website that might sell what I need. Thanks in advance!

Hi, if your existing Inspiron 531 doesn't provide you with a firewire port then you could try a PCI card with firewire ports, half height versions are available from about £20 (GBP) from almost all computer shops. They are easy to fit ( but you would need to be aware of and follow all the usual personal safety and ESD (antistatic) precautions ) but most shops will fit the card for you if you are not experienced at opening your machine.
It might be wise to contact Dell as they may be able to give you further information and advise you on the terms of any conditions attaching to their warranty/guarantee.........
Regards
