Gurus,

I have been having this issue for quite some time now. I am unable to load some websites in either IE or FireFox. I have two systems one with Windows XP and the other with Windows Vista. The problem is identical on both machines. What is even more surprising is the fact that I had completely formatted the C drive on my windows vista machine, reinstalled the OS and I still have the same issue. I also have a windows XP machine from my office. From my home network, I am able to connect to all these sites using my office machine without any problems.

I have the following installed on my box:

1. AVG AntiVirus software
2. SpywareBlaster
3. Spyware Guard
4. AdAware
5. McAfee Site Advisor.

Some of the sites that I am having difficulty in loading:

1. www.msn.com
2. www.microsoft.com
3. www.citicards.com (www.citibank.com works but unable to get to citicards)
4. www.delta.com

Any help will be most appreciated. I am posting my HJT logs along with this post.

Thanks,
Navin

All,

Success at last.....finally fixed the problem. The steps below detail my stupidity....:-(

1. Took the laptop outside of my home network and tested the connectivity with a different network. The sites loaded without any issues. This ruled out any applications currently loaded on the machine as the showstoppers.

2. Came back home and connected it directly to the modem. Again, all sites loaded without any issues. So the problem had to be on my wireless router.

3. Reset the router to factory default settings and tried to connect. Had the same issue that msn/microsoft/sun would not load on my browsers.

4. While fiddling around, I came across the "Upgrade Firmware" options and I decided to give it a shot. I have a Linksys WRT54G ver 2 purchased years ago. Looks like Cisco had been really busy since the firmware version on my router was way off from the current version. So got the latest version and upgraded the router.

5. Re-tried the connections and it all worked. All sites could now be accessed. I reloaded AVG and checked and everything is working just fine.

I am not sure why the office laptop connected but the others had a problem. The only difference I can see is with IE version - it is 6 on the working machine and 7 on the others. But the firefox was the same. I may be inclined to do some more analysis in the coming days but for now, I would like to close this thread.

Thanks to all of you for all the inputs.

Hey guys

Its just the Dynamic IP assigned to Navin is blocked by some of the ISPs. I've got similar problem too and I am able to open the same site with proxy...

When Navin reset the router, his dynamic IP address got renewed... It doesn't matter how many PCs you got in the same network or browsers in your PC... All of them access the internet with the same IP address...

Check whether your IP address is in any of the SPAM database
http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/i...ess-blacklisted

Easiest way to solve this problem is to switch off the router and switch it back on after 2 or 3 minutes... You might be assigned with a new dynamic IP address and it should solve the problem (hopefully)...

Thats from my experience... Please correct me if I am wrong...
