Many times you need to run a command from a Command Prompt then capture the data to paste here to provide needed information.

The output of ipconfig /all when diagnosing network problems is a good example of this.

What I do is modify the Options property for Command Prompt (cmd.exe) so Mark, Copy and Paste are always available.
  • First, place the Command Prompt icon on your Desktop or the Quick Launch area of the Task bar.
    • Click on Start, Programs then Accessories
    • Right click on your Command Prompt icon, select Send to then Desktop
You can leave the icon on your Desktop or move it to the Quick Launch area of the Task bar.
  • Now right click on your Command Prompt icon and select Properties
  • Click on the Options tab
  • Under Edit Options, check the Quick Edit box
  • Click Apply then Exit
Now any time you start a Command Prompt, you simply use your mouse like you would in any other window to Mark, Copy and Paste.

Additionally, under the Layout tab, I increase the height and width of the Command Prompt window and change it's location so it centered on the screen and the bottom is an inch or so above the Task Bar.
