BFVCC Server Manager is a server software included in such games as BattleField and Control Vietnam.

With it, the owner/user can "create" a game network and invite players to engage interactively in the game.
It is what is used to make interactive playing possible.

If there is a gamer in the family, I'd keep it.

Hi, my son plays the war games and Runescape. DD plays Runescape also. He doesn't online play the battle games at all. Only the game itself. I wondered about it because Itried to open it and right away all kinds of commotion took place. Everything from Norton to Spybot.

I've been looking up memory. I'm more confused than ever which one to buy. The Everest says I have PC800 RDRAM. Can I install a dual 512?

I apologize, but RDRAM PC800 is so darn "expensive".
That's because it was discontinued due to a copywrite/patent type law suite.
It's probably "resolved" by now, but the manufacturer's in general went to other designs.
RDRAM itself was an excellent innovation, and many wish the product line had continued.

At those prices, you could nearly buy a new machine, rather than try to max out the current machine's potential by adding that expensive RAM.

By comparison, a newer machine running PC3200 would accommodate PC3200 512mb which you can buy for about $39 when on sale, even at Best Buy.

If it were me, I'd stay with the current physical RAM and try to manage the StartUps to decrease load for best performance.

Another way to reduce load would be to Uninstall Norton and get (free) AVG.
Just count the number of Norton "processes running" in StartUp. Then check the "Services"... many more Norton/Symantec. Your machine is "loaded" but not in the good connotation of "wealthy".
Sure it's a good detection tool, but at what expense to your performance?

Sorry to be so dismal. I respect Norton/Symantec Products, but they do not treat "low resource" machines well.

Hi, I got a new very bad problem. There is something that has infiltrated! It's some sort of ad advertizing spyware and virus software. I've tried Norton, Spybot, and Adware SE. They all find it but don't remove it. What do I do?

Ok, After much, much work. Here is the info. I didn't find any TAC on Adware SE either. The only things I downloaded last night were Weather Pulse and the Everest Home Addition. My sons got stupid last yesterday and I spent the night in the ER. When I got back at 4 am DH was having trouble. Thats when I saw the problem. None before I left. He just clicked on the "E" for the internet and a page shows up for an add to buy software to get rid of this....

Download HighJackThis.exe from:

Save HighJackThis.exe to your new folder C:\HighJackThis\highjackthis.exe

Click on highjackthis.exe to open it.
Then click the button: "Run a System Scan and Save a Log File"

Be patient. The Volunteers are quite busy. It may be a couple of days.
In the meantime, suspend use of that machine on the internet. Physically unplug it.

This kind of Trojan is acquired from Scam Alerts that appear on some Websites.
The Alert will declare that you may be infected with something, and that only downloading and running their software will save you. Actually downloading and running their software "infects" you.

Hi, I have the same thing happening with my computer. The unmountable boot error like originally posted. Do I go thru the same steps? It doesn't do it every time I turn it on. More like every other time. If it does it. I shut the computer off, then back on and it will load properly.

Yes, follow the steps I recommended for the other machine, regarding "chkdsk /r" and "FixBoot".

Hey, I just tried to do this to my computer. It's asking for a password. I never set it up with one. How do I get around that or reset? I've tried every password I've ever used and it won't let me continue.

Password if probably blank. that is, you probably did not create a password.
Just press enter without typing anything into the password box.

Hi, Ok, I did the fix. It worked somewhat. I couldn't go to the disc thru safe mode. It says something is in use by another application and won't let me do the chkdsk /r. It also would not let me do sfc /scannow. It won't even start the process.

The same thing happens with starting in regular mode. Although it lets me access the cd it won't let me proceed. I get an error stating I have a newer version of windows and stops the process.

I went thru finally on F12. I ran it. All seemed fine. I did the fixboot and saved like the instruction says. I had a short time of glee thinking I finally fixed it. Nope, I shut my computer off last night. This afternoon I restarted.

It does the cycle like it's about to start then I get that same screen. Then it auto cycles again and finally accesses windows. Did I do something wrong? What do I do now?

CHKDSK /r can only run when nothing else is active.
That's why it is best to run chkdsk /r from Recovery Console.
chkdsk /r can also be run from either SAFE Mode or Normal mode if all other applications are closed.

Sounds like you were successfully in completing a Run of CHKDSK /r from Recovery Console?
And you were also successful with "fixboot"?

If you get the error you mentioned: "error stating I have a newer version of windows" then we have to take some additional steps. I just completed giving those instructions to another Member, here:

I'll repeat them here, for you.
First, a brief description of why this happens.
By default, SFC looks for the Original files on the Installation CD.
Since XP gets updated via MS Updates, there are a lot of "newer" files that didn't get put on the Installation CD when you purchased it.
However, (and wonderfully) those "newer files" are "saved" on your C:\ drive in various places.
But.... SFC doesn't know to look for them on C:\, because it has been instructed to look on the Installation CD.

So we have to change that instruction.

Please carefully follow these entire instructions. Print them out before you begin so that you'll have a paper copy to reference while you are completing the procedures.

Open your Windows Explorer or My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View(tab)
Put a Mark in "Show hidden files & Folders"
Remove the Mark from "Hide Protected operating system files"
Answer "Yes" to the Warning
Click on Apply
Click on OK or Close (to close the Tools Menu) But leave Windows Explorer or My Computer open

Create a New Folder on C:\ drive (C:\New Folder), and Rename it C:\i386
Next
Insert your XP Installation CD (if it automatically starts its own Menu, close the Menu by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.
Next
Using your already open Windows Explorer or My Computer Click on the D:\ Drive where you've inserted the XP Installation CD, such that Windows Explorer displays the Contents of that CD.
Look for the Folder D:\i386 (where (D) is the drive letter for your CD ROM where you've inserted the XP CD)
Double-Click on D:\i386 to open the Folder.
It is a relatively large folder (has alot of files in it)
These are actually the resource files from which XP was originally installed, and which are the "replacement" files that SFC uses to repair any missing or corrupt Operating System files.

Click on the Edit button and Press - Select All (this will highlight all of the files in (x):\i386
Next
In the Edit drop down menu, Click Copy
Next
Navigate to your newly created C:\i386 folder and open it. (it will still be empty)
Next
In the Edit drop down menu, Click - Paste

So now you've Copied and Pasted the entire XP backup resource to your C:\i386 (it will be about 475mb total)

We need to tell SFC where to find the resources of C:\i386
To do this, we will use Regedit.exe

This opens your Registry Editor

You will see various entries on the right-hand side. The one we want is called: SourcePath
SourcePath probably has an entry pointing to your CD-ROM drive. (We will be changing this entry)

Next we will "backup" this Registry Item prior to making any changes
Single-Click on SourcePath (from the list in the right-hand display) (This Highlights SourcePath)
Next
Click on the File menu - click Export
A "Save-in" box will appear.
- Select a location where you want to save the Registration Entries (.reg) file, (I suggest "DeskTop")
- Type a file name in the File name box (I suggest "SetupSourcePath.reg)
- then click Save
(You now have a backup of this item in case you want to return to the prior setting for some reason in the future)

In Registry Editor, "Double-Click" on "SourcePath"
(doing so opens a "Edit String" box)
(The Value Name will show: SourcePath)
(The Value Data will already be Highlighted and will probably refer to your CD-ROM)
(Even though we have already "backed-up" this Value Data, please write down the Value Data information on a piece of paper so you can include the information in your next Reply in this Forum Thread)

(type) C:\ then Press OK (in the Value Data line) (This will cause the previous Value Data information to disappear and leave only your new Value Data - C:\)

Reboot your computer

When your Computer is booted into Windows try your sfc /scannow again
Start - Run - (type)sfc /scannow - Enter

The SFC should take about 20 minutes.
If you sit in front of your Monitor watching the WFP ProgressBar, you will probably notice that SFC stops periodically to correctly access your new C:\i386 to replace missing or corrupt files.
