OK, This is my sons laptop. The other day all of ours computers did the windows auto update. All were fine at restart except my sons laptop. It will not go on his desk top at all. I get an error ...
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If the screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any new updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical information: *** Stop: 0x000000ED (0x812c5988, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I'm not sure if those "0"'s are supposed to be "Q"'s. They are all the same tho. How do I fix this? Also. Please EASY computer english. Novice. This post has been edited by Starwalker: Sep 18 2006, 01:48 PM |

OK, Fun Web Products is probably bundled with various free gaming or graphics offerings.
Here's a list of the items on your machine that might have "Fun Web Products" bundled. RumbleCube WebEx Webshots Byte Swarm (temporarily out of business anyway) DAZ|Studio GameSpy Arcade - (Advertizing is required with the "free version) This Web-interactive environment for gaming is widely used, and there may not be any "alternative" at this time. Even MSN is loosing business to them, and many of the games previous available on MSN Gaming Zoon are now only found at GameSpy Arcade. Apparently the "paid" versions of GameSpy Arcade do not load "advertisement" for which GameSpy Arcade has been roundly and soundly criticized. You may want to consider uninstalling the free GameSpy Arcade and subscribing to the intermediate or advanced versions which are purchased..... I don't know what the fee is. Of the list above, I'd guess that uninstalling GameSpy Arcade will cause the "most" kicking and screaming from the owner/users of the machine. Next, I'd guess that there would be quite a "ruckus" and complaint about uninstalling Webshots. Webshots actually has some fine and beautiful pictures and is quite a popular application. I have "no solid information" to base my concern on related to WebShots. I've seen it on some computers that had a lot of spyware, and have uninstalled it. But users may like it so much as to tolerate the minimal risk and inconvenience. The others may or may not be related to Fun Web Products, but then again, neither are they related to any particular benefit to the owner/user as far as I can tell. But I am only an outsider when making selections. Final decision is with the owner/user. Best Regards |
