New to these forums. I'm not much of a tech junkie but I have come here in the hopes that some kind soul could help me figure out what is wrong with my PC. The last few days it's been bogging down terrible. I can't game online anymore because the lag is horriffic. It's something on the Registry because I occassionally get the BSOD with the error "REGISTRY ERROR". I've tried running several registry programs but they crash to the blue screen when it comes across that error. Hopefully some of you can help me get this fixed. I'd really appreciate any input, tips or help.

Peace

Hi Chicoman,

Welcome to WTT Forums

QUOTE
BSOD with the error "REGISTRY ERROR".

There are several types of problems this may refer to.

Please provide the "entire" information that appears when you receive a BSOD error including the long alpha-numeric strings.
We may then be able to help.

Best Regards

Hi Chicoman,

I want to see quite a few features of your machine and its performance, including installed software, drivers, Ram, the condition of your Hard Drive, and the Configuration of your Start Menu.

There are separate specific methods to obtain that information, but I'd like you to perform a comprehensive overview test upon your machine at PCPitstop.

The PCPitstop Full Tests / OverDrive will give us most of the information we may need.
You will necessarily be required to Register, create a password, and accept an ActiveX component to assist your IE Internet Explorer with interfacing with the test.

When you complete the Full tests (takes between 2 and 5 minutes, you will be presented with browsable Results pages with optional Tips and instructions for performing various adjustments. For now, please ignore those recommendations and don't get caught up in the various fee based utilities that are offered for sale.

We'll help you make the adjustments manually and using free methods. smile.gif

Please post the Tech Express link to your Full Test Results.
It is the URL address in your address bar when viewing the first Results Page that is displayed to you.

We'll then have a look and make further recommendations.

*** Please avoid using "any" automated Registry Cleaner or Optimizer" <--- as per your earlier statement that you have already done so. They can make matters worse!!

Doug sorry I'm getting back to you so late but this is the results of my PC Pitstop scan. I hope it helps to clear things up. Any help is appreciated. Also Doug my internet keeps dropping out on me intermittenly. I need to refresh the connection on my D-link DWA Ethernet adapter. I think that could be the reason for the low performance. If there's any other tests I can run please advise. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Good Morning Chicoman

As you have probably noticed, your PCPitstop Full Test Results demonstrate that there are a number of useful adjustment that most likely will improve your machine's performance.

Of most concern:
  • Heavy CPU useage beyond expected % values
  • Seriously under-performing RAM memory
  • Heavily Fragmented C:\ Drive
  • Absence of competent AntiVirus

Since this present Thread Topic is a conversational "Welcome" sub-Forum, please start a fresh New Topic in the General Hardware Forum.
While we may also need to address specific operating system and software issues, your machine's problems presenting as high CPU utilization and RAM under-performance will probably best receive attention in General Hardware.

When you start your New Topic, please include the same information (and links) that you have provided here, so that your helper is as fully informed as possible.

I'll check in on your new Thread.
