So it is moving slowly again.
I have reinstalled Netgeatrwireless. Don't know it that will work regarding losing the wireless connection. This is just a personal wireless system at home.

The real origional problem has been mildly improved but remains.
It just did a chkdsk whil regbbooting and deleted parent/;loc $130 58726,

At what point do we add memory? And how?

You add memory when ever your resources permit.

First you need to determine what type of RAM your computer uses, how many slots are on the motherboard, and how many slots are currently used and by what amount of memory. Once you determine that, you can buy the right type of RAM, plug it in, and test it.

I can't assist you without more information about your computer like I requested previously.

The only info request of yours I know of that I didin't respond to is the Make and model...Where do I find tthat?
Is there any other info that you need?

If it's a big box vendor like Dell or HP then the model number will be on the case somewhere, in the back if no where else.

crucial.com has a good scanner you can run or you can enter the information in and it will tell you what memory your computer accepts. The scanner is easier as it doesn't require you to know the make and model of your computer.

You can also run System Information for Windows (SIW) and it should tell you under the Hardware section. If it's a home brew system then you will need to provide the make and model of the mother board. Again, SIW can provide this information.

Belarc Advisor is another good tool for checking this kind of information.

You can buy one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820141164 for under $20 w/shipping. And just plug it in to the free available slot. This will make a huge difference in how your computer runs.

Or, you can take your computer up to its maximum amount of memory by buying two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231036 and replacing the memory that you have now. Performance improvement by doing this over just adding the additional 512MB, may be small depending on how you use your computer. But, it WILL run better.

Those two items listed above should be the best price available that I could find at the moment.
Always test new memory to be sure that it is good!
