Dear Person:....
The following is from another thread...

""I occasionaly return to WTT to learn & pick up pointers to keep my comp running smoothy.....
On this one & a few other threads , I noticed others suggest a program called "Erunt"....
I have it installed on this unit....
However , I can find no info as to how to "use" it...ie, how do you do a back-up using "Erunt" etc....
I found tons of info as to where to get it , download it , etc , but no "User Manaul" type help....
I hope to never have to "back-up" , but if (More realisticaly "when") I do , I'd like to know how to do it with "Erunt"...""

You open the folder for the date you want then run the erdnt.exe in it. It works very much like the manual backup. When you start erdnt, you get this window.

You click OK and it will restore the registry, then tell you to reboot.

Ztruker:..
I didn't get the graphic you showed in your last post...
Reffering to the attachment below:..==>
Attached Image

After selecting the desired date , the above screen appeared.....
I was not sure which icon to click on...
I decided to click on the icon that has the ERD with NT under it...
That worked perfect....
MANY , MANY THANKS... thumbup.gif

Ron, you need to make a change in Folder Options so you can see Hidden files as well as all file extensions. The you would have seen ERDNT.EXE, which would have made it easier to choose.
  • Open Control Panel then Folder Options.
  • Click on the View tab.
  • Select Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
  • Uncheck Hide protected operating system files [Recommended]
That will show you all folders and files and all file extensions. I'm a firm believer in being able to see everything on a computer. This was one of Microsoft's well intentioned, but bad decisions in trying to protect the users from themselves.

I also prefer Classic and Detail view, instead of Tiles, Icon or List view. Again because I want to see everything on my computer, inclusing date, time, size, etc.

OK , I did this:==>
QUOTE
Open Control Panel then Folder Options.
Click on the View tab.
Select Show hidden files and folders
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files [Recommended]

Then I got this:==>

The difference is that by the ERD NT is ERDNT.EXE & it's location changed...The icon is the same...
& I'm a bit leary about having "Hidden Files" "Extensions" etc un-hidden...Basically I feel a bit unsafe about having those items exposed or available....(Possible virus attacks)
I tried the "Classic" version & frankly , I like the "XP" version better....But whatever floats your boat is OK with me....
THANKS AGAIN... thumbup.gif .... popcorn.gif

Showing hidden files has nothing to do with what viri or malware can attack. They have absolutely no problem seeing every file on your computer. You are the only one who can't see them thumbdown.gif

Sooner or later it will bite you, but you can address it when the need arises.

Take care, glad all is well with ERUNT now.
