I am running Windows XP pro with all the updates..Pentium 4 with 250 Gig HD and 2 Drives D: and E:..before when I placed a cd in the D:/ drive it will play for me.since last week it will not show for me,it used to show me the files before.....Now when i go to My Computer and open up the D:/ Drive I see the files that are there on the CD.....From there I can play the files OK...I deleted both drives and did a re-boot and then I said found new hardware,so that worked ok....I checked under Control Panel> System Properties> Hardware>
Device Manager, both drives are lasted there with no ? mark and tried to update the drivers, but it said the drive is OK and use the one that is listed.... This used to work for me when I placed a CD in the Drive.... I had a stroke about 6 years ago,so be patient with me I tried to go back with system restore, but that failed... |

Perhaps Autoplay has been turned off for your CD drive? Read here and see if this helps: http://www.theeldergeek.com/turn_off_cd_autoplay.htm

Okay, fix #2. Try the Autoplay Repair Wizard from Microsoft, see if that identifies the problem and can fix it.
