Whats best for cleaning finger prints and what not off of a LCD monitor screen? A dry soft cloth just doesn't do it. |

I've tried it and all I got were finger prints on the screen also |

a 50-50 mixture of water and isoproply alchohol should do the trick.
Dampen a cloth, clean the screen, and let it dry. wng |

Just make sure that whatever you do, don't use windex or another cleaning agent such as that since they may dammage LCD's. Your best bet would be what wng_z3r0 suggested, or to go out and get a can of monitor cleaner that is safe for LCD's.

I too looked into that subject at one point & I wish I would haved saved the
web-pages, But I didnt ! So I will tell you what I read,ok? #1.All those high priced LCD cleaning kit's are a rip off all they have in them are a mixture of regular household Alcohol & Water, sometimes there is some color put in to make it seem otherwise, or it is placed into a colored bottle. But as the person stated earlier in this thread a 50/50 mix is exactly corect! I guess one might want to use some sort of filtered water if the tap water at home is full of calcium & such, but thats it. #2.The cloth is very important! I learned along while back that"Pima Cotton" is great for this job! Otherwise, keep in mind that it needs to be as soft a cotton as you can find. Well that is it, I just wanted to pass along what I had learned. (There is no need to go out & buy expensive kit just use 50/50 mix & soft cotton) Please remember that I am not an expert & I am just passing along what I learned from an online Laptop /Notebook do it yourself repair web-site.Ok? Good luck Xproject187 This post has been edited by Xproject187: Sep 4 2005, 04:23 PM |

Noticed that those soft cloths that are used for cleaning eyeglasses works really well with just breathing on the screen. You could prolly find them at any drugstore
