(no offense to any other Tech, but Catbyte has helped me alot this past month.) I havent been using my PC much, been working ALOT these past few weeks. No one uses my PC when im gone anymore. This may have occured when installing some Custom game Mods for COD5. Here is whats going on. System hangs when trying to open my game folder in My Documents. Takes up to 3 mins sometimes to get the folder to open. Other times, it just freezes there, so i hit CTR ALT DEL to access Task Manager, and it shows My Docs is not responding. So i end it the proccess, which takes about 5 mins to get it to stop. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, that my Mcafee turns itself off. I only notice this when the bubble pops up telling me my computer is at risk, which takes a few minutes after the Virus scan has been turned off. Here is my HJT log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 8:55:39 AM, on 7/18/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\windows\System32\smss.exe C:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe C:\windows\system32\services.exe C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\windows\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\2Wire\Gateway\2PortalMon.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\browser\ybrwicon.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\browser\ycommon.exe C:\windows\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\windows\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\Agent\mcagent.exe C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe C:\windows\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor\McSACore.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mcproxy\mcproxy.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MPF\MPFSrv.exe C:\windows\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\PnkBstrA.exe C:\windows\system32\PnkBstrB.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\Shared Files\RichVideo.exe C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\SoftwareUpdate\YahooAUService.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee\VIRUSS~1\mcvsshld.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan\McShield.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaul...rch/search.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaul...//www.yahoo.com R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Hi,
Please do the following: Java 6 Update 11 can be updated from the Java control panel Start > Control Panel (Classic View) > Java (looks like a coffee cup) > Update Tab > Update Now. An update should begin; > follow the prompts. Then go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs a list of installed programs will populate remove the following programs: Java™ 6 Update 4 Java™ 6 Update 5 Java™ 6 Update 7 (leave version 6 update 14 in place - that is the most recent version) Next:
NEXT Please download OTM by OldTimer.
CODE :Processes explorer.exe :Files C:\windows\\system32\drivers\TDSSmxjt.sys :Reg [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet005\Services\TDSSserv] :Commands [purity] [emptytemp] [start explorer] [Reboot]
Note: If an item cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post. NEXT
Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. You'd be doing yourself a favour to lose utorrent and Limewire. Most of the infections we see are brought in from peer2peer file sharing. You can't trust the source of the download. You can uninstall them through Add/Remove programs. Next Using Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit Kaspersky On-line Scanner 1. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions. 2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
3. Click Run at the Security prompt. The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database. Please be patient as this can take quite a long time to download.

Well, Mcafee hasnt turned itself off at all today. Seems to be working normal. What could have caused McAfee to turn off, without any type of warning?

Hi,
Honestly, I have no idea as I have never used McAfee myself, if they have a support forum, you might want to ask them if this is a common issue, but your log is clean. Run the OT clean up program. Now to remove the rest of the tools that we have used in fixing your machine:
set a new restore point: System Restore makes regular backups of all your settings, if you ever had to use this program to restore your system to a previous date, you will be infected all over again so we need to clean out the previous Restore Points We need to set a new system restore point: Click Start > Run > copy and paste the following into the run box:
Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it (something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close. Now remove all previous Restore Points: Click Start > Run > copy and paste the following into the run box:

The DL starts automatically when you click on their server to play. All these different file for COD5 start installing. Maybe one of them put s lil something extra. I dont know, just a theory. I am no longer going to servers i am not familiar with. I have enough Favs to satisfy my killing needs ;P Once again, thanx for your help. |
