I have this problem with certain games always crashing that just happened lately (.exe has stopped working) then just crashes...

So I want to reinstall VISTA in case there are some corrupted files somewhere but I don't want to format. Is there a way to reinstall only the windows files fresh?

it is HIGHLY unlikely to be a Vista problem. Investigate/reinstall the game before you mess with the OS.
