Hello and hope you can help. I have also posted this to the Bushnell customer service but we know how that can go. smile.gif

I won a pair of Bushnell 11-1025 binoculars in a raffle a few years ago but had never utilized the digital camera aspect until recently. I took several practice shots (I am preparing to go to a sporting event this weekend) and subsequently connected it to my computer. I kept getting the found new hardware message and an error message that they could not locate a driver for my device. It was recognized as a generic usb camera. I did not receive a disk in the box (which was shrink wrapped). I did not think it would matter as I have an XP machine. I thought it would have been plug and play. I learned from searching the Bushnell site and others that there is an imageviewer software to install. But stated on sites I should not have to if xp machine but, I have done that. I also have photoshop (roxio photosuite is not required if you have another photo editing program) on my computer but when I try to import using the twain feature I get a message stating that it could not connect to camera. I have tried various usb ports both on my laptop and on the hub to my laptop cooler (which does have it's own power source). I am very frustrated as I thought this would be a nice feature to explore but not my time is running out to take advantage of this. Is there a specific .inf or driver file that I am missing?? From what I am reading I should not have to do anything if I have XP. In essence, Bushnell recognize they are attached to the computer (PC LCD is shown), but the computer does not reconize the hardware and won't install it. Please help.

Windows XP Media Center Edition
Service Pack 3

Bushnell 11-1025 Imageview Binoculars

I am clear malware and virus wise.
Thank you
Mickey7

Reviews tell at least part of the story:
http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Bushnell_I...ar_w_VGA_Camera

I sure don't know what version of Roxio that the software tries to install, but the basic is notorious for difficulty with XP.
I always install the free upgrade. It's still only version 5, but has patches to remove some conflicts that exist with XP.

Apparently, it was Roxio Photo Suite4. But as I said I never got a cd with my product. And to contact Bushnell is worthless at this point. Thankfully I paid nothing for them and as for the Binocular part they are fine. I just wish that there was someway for the computer to recognize the drive regardless of software then I could at least copy them over and manipulate them in another photo editing program. Just show me "removable drive x:" and I will be happy. The software is on the computer but as I said there is no link to the camera so when when I do a file open nada.... I will do a restore and try using the the link that you supplied. Wish me luck..... smile.gif

Faulty USB cable from the camera to the computer?
If your computer is able to detect other USB devices, but does not recognize when you plug in the USB from your camera, then you could have a bad/shorted cable; or a bad connector at either end of the cable, or a bad connection port on the camera.

How about batteries? Fresh batteries make any difference?

How about trying to detect the camera on a different computer?

Just grasping at straws here. blush.gif

I read the Manual, and it seems to say that you "do" need to install the camera software in order to detect and download pictures.
Heres a commercial site where the Manual is available:
http://www.retrevo.com/d/ds/progress?doc=2...8ab7ffb66a4f93b

Unfortunately, I have not found a site that allows you to download the software.
Could be that you need the CD.

The Roxio update download that I offered in my earlier post is not likely going to help you get the pictures downloaded from your camera. It is specifically related to helping XP deal with Roxio photo handling once the files have been downloaded. Sorry.

Here it is Friday already and your sporting event is probably just around the corner.
Sorry that you "Winning" has turned into a disappointing hassle.

Best Regards

Sorry. The above link doesn't work.
Here's the sites main link. From there you can navigate to the Manual Download

I will see when I get home tonight. I have a laptop cooling pad with a 4 USB hub in it that has it's own power supply. I tried a couple of those ports and I tried the side USB port on the laptop where I have my external HD plugged in. I also tried on of the back laptop ports as suggested. It reacted the same way on each of them. There are fresh batteries in the binoculars. I also tried to attach to another machine that is a Vista set up. Again the same thing. The LCD screen on the binoculars does actually read PC when it is plugged in. does that nullify your bad usb cable theory? I do have another cable at home. I could not find the Roxio Photo Suite software for free anywhere last night, but I did get the image viewer itself software installed. At one point I was able to use that software to use the binoculars like a magnifying web cam, but no luck retrieving pics. It still could not locate camera when trying to get the pics off. I could "capture" an image from the web cam aspect. And you are right, the event is Sat. night. ugh!!!! Appreciate your thoughts so far -- who knows maybe something will intervene and it will miraculously just start working..........smile.gif

If you or a friend has an older Windows 98SE machine, you may have better response from the Roxio Software provided by the camera/binocular folks.

But if I read correctly, you did not receive the software CD with your winnings. sad.gif

Still, consider giving Win98SE a shot.

*yes, I think your experimenting has ruled out:
Faulty cable
Faulty USB connectors
Batteries

It's down to software.

No doubt you will enjoy the sporting event anyway.

Best Regards
