wavey.gif Dear Person; Well I'm back with a new problem....When I'm on some websites , I get a box that has a red "X" in the upper left corner & NO graphics....A fiend (not a typo) told me that the website was at fault...However , I also am getting the same thing in my EMAILS !!! When I click on some of the red "X"s & check properties , I get "HTML" Document OR "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol"....Here's what I've done to try to fix this: All scans for viruses/trojans/malware show NONE detected.... I reset Internet Options to "Default" at least 2 Xs....Removed (from Internet Options ) Cookies,Deleted Web History & Deleted Temporary Files....I downloaded a new updated "NetZero" file , uninstalled & completely removed all traces of it , & re-installed the new version...I went into Internet Options "Advanced" & "Show Pictures" IS checked...I had this exact problem once before , but it's been awhile & I do NOT remember how it was fixed....I'm a 67 yr old fart newbie...I've done everything that I could think of , now I need your help....In advance, Thank you VERY much....Ron.M.............. pullhair.gif ............PS:...I am MORE than willing to provide Everest, HiJackThis OR ANY other info/data you may need...

Hi RonM,

Some of this may be redundant but here is a standard post on this problem:
Tony Klein posted:

There are three things you should check:

1) On the View menu in IE, point to Encoding , and then click Western European (Windows).

2) Verify that Show Pictures has not been disabled (but you've done that already)

3) Restore Default Associations for Graphics File Types :

Go to Folder Options/File Types, and make sure that the following file types are associated by default with Microsoft Internet Explorer (Iexplore.exe):
ART image (.art)
GIF image (.gfa, .gif)
JPEG image (.jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg)

Is your Java Runtime Environment up to date? Verify it here.

Post back if you need further help.

kind regards,

LOL, seriously funny, but don't put yourself down wink.gif.

Have you tried right clicking on where the picture should be and choosing "Show Picture"? Even if it worked it'd be a major hassle to do that for all the images you want, but just for the time being.

Also nows a good time to be thinking of getting FireFox, just a thought. And what version of IE do you have?

Oh and for clearing temp files get ATF-Cleaner to do it, maybe try that again. Also you can go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab and scroll down to the Multimedia section and check Show image download place holders just so the pages aren't at least messed up by the absence of them. Also make sure Show pictures is checked (you said you did but you didn't say where).

You said:...""Go to Folder Options/File Types"", Where do I find this at

Go to your Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types (is a tab).

You can access the Folder Options also from any folder by going to Tools > Folder Options.

Hi RonM,

Yes nice to meet you too.

May I suggest when you are changing settings as above, only do that as one issue, don't be typing emails, answers to posts etc as you will receive more problems. Changing settings means changing how your computer works for you.

Vectris has answered your second question.

Please go to Add and Remove and check you only have the latest Java Runtime Enviroment installed, if there are old Java installations there, remove them and reboot. The latest Java Platform Standard Edition 6, is version 6 Update7 (build 1.6.0_07-b06 6.07)

Post back if you need further help.

kind regards,

Quick question, are you on dialup? Because dialup is seriously slow and I believe that there's a setting somewhere that "gives up" on loading images if they take to long, and with dialup, images sure take a long time to load. I only ask because you said you use NetZero and I used to have NetZero and in specific their dialup service.

EDIT: I just thought of something else. Go to your Internet Options > General (Tab) and click the Settings button for Browsing History.
What is your "Disk space to use:" set to? Its the number in the box with the up and down arrows that allow you to adjust it. If it's below 50 set it to 50, and tell us what it was/is.

I don't like or need AOL..PERIOD...See ya later.....Have to surf to check out new setting..... unsure.gif

sad.gif Hello, everyone,I'm back... BAD news...Sorry,Vectris, it did not work....Today I downloaded IE 7 , did a complete uninstall including checking for remnants (none found) & reinstalled IE 7....NO help ! !....FYI:...I have Windows Defender installed...At times a window pops up saying it detected a change(s) to my registry(I think) & asks whether I want to "Permit" OR "Deny" the change...Some I permit , some I deny...MAYBE , just , MAYBE that's where this problem is , MAYBE.... blush.gif .....Anybody have ANY other ideas OR suggestions, I'm so READY for it....Thanks again....I'm going to attach 2 screenshots of a website that has been consistently been giving me a prob....They are from PCH.com....(I have contacted them for help, waiting)...One shows ":NULL NULL" where my name should be..The other shows the graphic prob I get there as well as elsewhere...I can not complete my entry because of it....It's mostly the other websites that have me....---> pullhair.gif ....Lastly , ANY help WILL be appreciated..... [attachment=2012:NULL_NULL.JPG] [attachment=2013:Missing_Graphic.JPG]....................<---- Hey, not bad for a newbie ! !

Well here are two other fixes, not sure if they'll work. Also with the first, make sure to change the value back go .gif if it doesn't work, just to be safe.

You should probably consider FF though if the problem isn't resolved. Or at least try it to see if you get the same problem.

Dear Vectris:...I went to both links you so graciously provided...1st;...I went to the MajorGeeks site & all the info that I checked is OK....The HKEY info---> image/jpg & image/gif were already there , but I retyped the info in again anyway to be sure...I went back online & no help....2nd;....I went to your 2nd link & WAALAA I think we FOUND the problem...When I typed in (the run box) ""regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll"" (without quotes), I got the following--->.....Mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DLLRegistryServer entry point was not found..The file can not be registered....I think that MAY be the problem...The reason being , that when I click on the red "X"s & open up properties , I see that it is a HTML image....Make sense?? Somehow we need to fix/create an entry point..If that can be fixed , it MAY end this...In reply to your last post:... I do not think IE 7 is at fault , since I did a COMPLETE uninstall & a new re-install...However , you have convinced me to try FireFox , but NOT until we resolve this FIRST, agreed??? Thank you VERY much...Ron.M smile.gif
