I have changed my P4 from a 2.8G to a 3.4G. When the computer restarts, it says
"Alert! The processor is not supported on this system, and will run at a reduced speed." The computer runs better than before with the L2 cache now being doubled I would guess. It still does not recognize the CPU as 3.4G. It thinks it is 2.8G. Here is the info on my system. I have CPUID, Everest and Belarc for any other information that is needed. Just let me know. Thank you for your time in helping me with this. You have pretty much received all the information you need to receive:
QUOTE "Alert! The processor is not supported on this system, and will run at a reduced speed." Your motherboard either will not support this processor, or you need a flash BIOS update. The flash BIOS update can be downloaded and installed from the manufacturer's website. If you install it incorrectly you may render your system completely useless. Please read the directions carefully. For future reference, not all parts are supported by all motherboards. Before investing the money into upgrading make sure your current architecture supports what you are trying to plug into it. You may need to replace the motherboard to receive full benefits from this CPU. This post has been edited by appleoddity: Jun 10 2009, 11:25 PM |
