Is there some way to save the output of "Review your update history" on the Windows Update site, other than displaying each page and doing a cut and paste to a file? I currently have 5 pages.

What I want to do is create an entry in my Tips database that is easily and quickly searchable. Not a big deal, just something I'd like to do if possible without a lot of manual processing.

Hey Ztruker,

You may appreciate the following macro:
VBA Express : Excel - List contents of the 'Windows Updates' history.

You could even customize it yourself (if need be) and brush up on your VB skills!

Regards,

Ax

Many thanks Ax, I did a lot of searching for this but never got any response suggesting an Excel VB Macro. Works perfectly.

I can leave in Excel or export as a CSV file and import into MySQL, exactly what I was looking for.

Ztruker,

That's great, I'm glad to hear it! I was hoping it would work (hadn't tried it) because I had a few things in mind on how to utilize the logic presented in the macro.

Regards,

Ax

While on the topic, here's another utility you can use to view the updates that are installed on your computer:
WinUpdatesList - View Windows Updates (Service Packs and Hotfixes)

I've always liked Belarc Advisor to tell me more than I need to know, including hardware specifications, including motherboard make, model, BIOS version, CPU, graphics, RAM, drives, etc. but also registered software, keys, hotfixes (with status), and much more.

WinUpdatesList is okay, but does not show the files contained in each update for all the updates I have installed. It probably looks at the uninstall ($NtUninstal****) folders in \Windows to determine them and I've deleted all of them prior to July 1 2007.

Belarc is a good tool. I use it along with SIW but neither are as much fun as the Excel macro biggrin.gif

Possibly you are correct, in the end it just depends on what kind of details you are looking for. Thanks for the added information!
