Hi all,
Don't know if this is the right place to put this but I can't find security questions et al. I know most techy guys don't like Norton's but like it or not I have it on mine...version 2004. Well I had a "techy" guy come out last week to see if he could sort out why my pc was running slow, hanging etc... and he couldn't find out why, BUT he did something to the registry (scream) and my Norton's disabled!!!

I got him to do a system restore to the day before he touched the machine and it worked, however, Norton's is mucked up in that it won't log the liveupdates and I can't access the quarantine file. I don't have the original discs as it came with the machine, my subs run out December and to cap it all, yesterday Norton's picked up on the downloader virus, couldn't repair or access it. I just hope it's quarantined it BUT I can't get in to find out and delete it!!

I did a housecall scan, and SuperAntispyware scan and nothing found. I have spybot and adaware on the computer and I empty cookies and temp files everytime I come off the net.... trouble is what can I do about Norton's if I can't access the quarantine and it isn't updating the files since the day the guy touched this?

Your (sensible lol) advice would be appreciated please and I don't want to throw Norton's just yet... I'm not into downloading free AV's as I've heard with AVG 8 that a lot of peeps are having problems. I'm a born again coward when it comes to computers... can do the basics but won't touch much else... is there any hope lol

Thanks for your help.
